The following information was forwarded to families via Connect Friday 5 February.
Good Morning Safety Bay Families
I am sure you are all aware by now of the wonderful news about schools reopening on Monday after the conclusion of the lockdown. We are so excited to be welcoming all of our families back to school and beginning another great year of learning together.
Week 2 - COVID-19 Guidelines
Next week will be considered Week 2 of the school term and the following will be in place in line with the transitional COVID-19 restrictions in the Perth Metro and Peel regions:
- Parents are welcome to attend the school site. It is the personal responsibility of all adults on school site to maintain social distancing of 1 adult per 4 square metres in all areas of the school and wear masks at all times. Please observe any venue capacity signage for indoor areas, including classrooms, and support our staff and the wellbeing of our community by adhering to these.
- To assist with social distancing, please enter the school via the gate closest to your child's classroom.
- Good hygiene measures should be practised throughout the school, including the use of hand sanitiser where indicated.
All staff at our school will be wearing masks next week. The exception to this will be during direct teaching/instruction time to enable effective communication between students and teachers. We encourage you to talk to your child prior to Monday about what to expect in regard to their teacher wearing a mask. You can find suggestions for discussing masks with children at https://raisingchildren.net.au/guides/coronavirus-covid-19-guide/face-masks-coronavirus-children. If you would like any further support with this, please do not hesitate to contact us at SafetyBay.PS@education.wa.edu.au
Our students, including any students currently 12 years of age, are not required to wear masks on the school site.
Due to restrictions on mass gatherings, our first assembly on 12 March will be attended by students and staff only. We look forward to our community coming together to join in celebrating our achievements at future assemblies.
Please continue to monitor Connect notifications for further updates. Parents and Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students will be receiving further information about procedures for the first day of school from our Deputy Principal - Early Childhood, Mrs Jodie Schicker.
I wish to extend my sincerest thanks to our whole school community for the support that has been shown over the last week. Safety Bay Primary School is truly a unique and special school community, and it is times like these that show us exactly why that is.
Be well and see you all next week!
