Walk Safely to School Day will be held on 22 May this year. This national initiative encourages primary school students to develop safe and healthy walking habits on their way to school. Established by the Pedestrian Council of Australia, the event began in New South Wales in 1999 and expanded nationwide in 2004.
The day promotes the importance of regular physical activity, healthy eating, and positive environmental choices by reducing car travel to school. Most importantly, Walk Safely to School Day aims to build students’ awareness of essential road safety practices.
